Meet the team

Michelle qualified as a Physiotherapist more than 10 years ago and has been working clinically in the musculoskeletal speciality and in management within Buckinghamshire during this time. In 2011 Michelle moved solely into management and is now responsible for the overall running of the Practice Plus Group MSK and Diagnostics services.

Richard qualified as a Physiotherapist at the University of Hertfordshire in 2006. He initially worked at Doncaster Royal Infirmary during which time he completed his master’s degree in Manual Therapy at the University of Western Australia (2011). He joined Care UK in September 2012 as an Extended Scope Practitioner, a couple of years later in September 2014 he took the role of Clinical Lead for the service. His clinical interests include clinical reasoning, red flags and the development of the clinical staff and services.

Abigail initially completed a BSc in Equine and Human Sports Science before going on to complete an MSc (pre-reg) in Physiotherapy at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She has worked in varying roles since qualifying including Team Lead for inpatients and community on the Isles of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides before moving back to her hometown of Lincoln and specialising in MSK outpatients.

Abigail joined Practice Plus Group (formerly Care UK) in 2013 and since then has moved into ESP work and completed her injection therapy module. She currently works as an ESP and still spends 1 day a week running a pure physiotherapy clinic. She enjoys treating patients with complex conditions and chronic pain.

Joshua Wheatley has worked with Practice Plus Group since 2017. He completed his undergraduate qualifications in 2014. He has a specialist interest in integrated point of care diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections for patients presenting with musculoskeletal problems. He initially completed his training through Bournemouth University and underwent subsequent ultrasound supervision in Manchester, Lincolnshire and Buckinghamshire. He is an independent prescriber.

Joshua has developed, and leads on, a number of clinics within his current NHS role integrating point of care diagnostic ultrasound and completes hundreds of guided interventional procedures every year. He has developed and runs a hydrodistension clinic for patients presenting with frozen shoulder, avoiding lengthy delays into radiology or secondary care orthopaedics.

Richard completed a degree in Sports & Exercise in 2004 and subsequently graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist from St. George’s, University of London in 2008.

​He has previously worked as a Team Lead Physiotherapist within a Spinal & Pain Team service within a large NHS teaching hospital. Here he provided treatment and management for individuals with acute and persistent conditions including the management of complex pain cases.

Richard has attended a number of post graduate courses and is currently working towards his Master’s degree. He is qualified in both soft tissue and joint injection therapy. He joined Practice Plus Group as an Extended Scope Practitioner in 2016. His experience to date has led to a keen interest in clinical reasoning, managing persistent pain conditions and complex cases.

Sam completed a degree in Sports Science with management at Loughborough University before going on to study Physiotherapy at King’s College London. He previously worked in London teaching Hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College Hospital. He joined Care UK in 2015 to work for the Buckinghamshire Musculoskeletal Integrated Care Service (MusIC). Originally from Lincolnshire, Sam moved back to join the LCATS service in 2020. Sam has worked extensively in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal settings, and lectured a King’s College London and the British School of Osteopathy.

Sam has completed post graduate courses in joint and soft tissue injection therapy, and image interpretation. He has a keen interest in clinical reasoning, health promotion and management of complex cases.

Rhys graduated with first class honours from Sheffield Hallam University in 2017 with a BSc in Physiotherapy. He joined the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston on a rotational post and gained valuable experience in all aspects of physiotherapy including: trauma and orthopaedics, acute and geriatric medicine, general and vascular surgery, paediatrics, stroke and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Rhys worked as the head physiotherapist at Boston United Football Club, developing his skills within orthopaedics, and was offered the position of senior physiotherapist in the trauma and orthopaedics team at Pilgrim Hospital. Before joining Practice Plus Group MSK & Spinal Service, Lincolnshire, he worked at NHS musculoskeletal outpatient clinic, developing his assessment and treatment skills alongside study towards becoming a first contact practitioner.

Alongside his NHS work, Rhys works in the private sector, offering regular orthopaedic and musculoskeletal clinics. He runs private community physiotherapy clinics and works in semi-professional sport as head of medical for the local football academy. Rhys’ main interests and areas of further training involve sporting injuries and rehabilitation as well as injuries of the lower limb.

Lewis completed a BSc degree in Sports Therapy at Leeds Beckett University before going on to study MSc Physiotherapy in York.

Over the last 6 years he has gained a broad range of experience working across Nottingham and Lincoln in NHS and private musculoskeletal outpatient clinics, orthopaedics, primary care and semi-professional football.

Lewis joined the Practice Plus Group MSK & Spinal Service, Lincolnshire in June 2023. He has a keen interest in health promotion and shared decision making.

Mr Jean-Yves Mougou graduated with a medical degree in 2002 from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Crete in Greece. In 2003 moved to Hungary and joined one of the leading Department of Orthopaedics in the country with highly qualified and skilled Orthopaedic surgeons at the County Hospital of Kecskemet.

In 2003 Mr Mougou started his specialisation in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the University of Szeged (Hungary) and continued his fellowship with interest in lower limbs. He was trained in hips and knee joint replacement, including the use of navigation system, and has performed numerous arthroscopies. He obtained his Certificate of Specialisation in Trauma-Orthopaedics in 2010 and in 2011 he had a training how to manage critically ill patients at the teaching hospital in York. He has been a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 2011.

In 2017 Mr Mougou completed training with Medco and obtained a certificate to practice as an orthopaedic medicolegal expert. He is a full member of the OA Trauma and he participates in trainings and conferences in the UK and abroad.

Mr Mougou joined the team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Barlborough in 2010, and a year later joined Practice Plus Group MSK & Spinal Service, Lincolnshire. He has a special interest in musculoskeletal and spinal.

Mr. Vasileios Kavouriadis graduated with a medical degree from the National and Kapodistrian University in Athens, Greece, in 1995. Since then, he has obtained specialist certificates in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery from the University of Athens.

After completing his training at several major Orthopaedic and Trauma units in Athens, and spending six months as a trainee at Charité University Hospital in Berlin through Humboldt University, he became an Orthopaedic and Trauma Consultant in 2005. His training focused on Joint Replacement Surgery and Arthroscopy.

In 2005, Mr. Kavouriadis began working as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Fellow at Queen’s Hospital in Burton on Trent. He then moved to Paisley, Scotland, where he worked as a full-time Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Alexandra Hospital from 2007 to 2011. Following this, he moved to the Manchester NHS Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service, where he taught nurses and physiotherapists while also performing surgical procedures as a part-time consultant at the Eccleshill and Shepton Mallet Treatment Centres. He now works at LCATS as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Mr. Kavouriadis has a strong interest in lean techniques within the health service, effective resource usage, and efficient health service processes and pathways. He is also interested in the role of Artificial Intelligence in health services.

In addition to his medical qualifications, he has acquired a Master of Business Administration from the Manchester Business School and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law in Manchester. He is currently completing an MSc in Computer Science at the University of York.​
